This track rocketed its way into my "favourite songs of all time" list on my first listen; that only happens once in a blue moon, so I'm floored. Coastal are stellar and I'm so ready for a full album!

Like the opening credits of a coming-of-age film, Midnight Sky starts with a very evocative synth arpeggiator and a vocal sample reminicents of classic 80’s films. Aaron’s heartfelt vocal delivery and evocative lyrics work in perfect tandem with the overall retro aesthetic. Nostalgic, yet hopeful for what the future has in store. The song perfectly captures the feeling of youthful yearning for new experiences and fresh new beginnings.
Midnight Sky Coastal’s first entry into the Synthwave scene is bound to make waves, opening their full length debut album titled ‘Memories’ due for release in the back end of 2021.
lyrics
To the sunsets, to the memories, to the regrets, Los Angeles
(Monologue)
When I was younger
I never knew there a whole world outside of here
There's oceans, there's mountains
There's everything here
And sometimes life just gets hard and you've gotta move on
Sometimes things change
Sometimes people change
We drove the 405 underneath the midnight sky
with the windows down, that 80s sound, a look of wonder in your eyes
I said “you’ll never leave, you’ll never leave this place behind
Please don’t go anywhere, go anywhere tonight”
When summer’s gone do we leave our lives behind?
Do you love the feeling or the person in your eyes?
To the sunsets, to the memories, to the regrets, Los Angeles
To the sunsets, to the memories, to the regrets, Los Angeles
We took an ocean drive out toward the midnight sky.
With the headlights out; the music loud. The summer made us feel alive
You said “I’ve gotta leave, I’ve got to leave this place tonight
We can go anywhere, go anywhere we like”
When summer’s gone do we leave our lives behind?
Do you love the feeling or the person in your eyes?
To the sunsets, to the memories, to the regrets, Los Angeles
To the sunsets, to the memories, to the regrets, Los Angeles
(Monologue)
I can't stay here
This place, I can't die here
Looking at same street, the same faces, the same skies
Let's run away together, no one will ever know
Just you and I

Just had to get this on vinyl although I've been listening to this album for a couple of years already.... now it can take it rightful place beside " Endless Summer!"🧔 Knut -Thomas
