Roadie63 If we were still in the eighties, your amazing debut album would definitely be in the top 10 and "Shy Kids" would be number 1! What a phenomenal debut! Favorite track: Shy Kids (feat. Cymatica).

watashiwannabe A fantastic album that reminds me of a time when the summer never ended, of friends going out and cruising around, in a car with the convertible top down, on highways that were long and straight, when colors of our shorts and T-shirts and those long neon nights were bright, and the future as we knew it was even brighter. A time that was, for those of us of a certain age, or a time that will never be, for those younger, but we all reminisce immediately upon hearing that ever-familiar sound. Favorite track: Midnight Sky.

Memories 02:26
The one thing people tend to realise at moments like this is that they’ve wasted a lot of time. It’s not just what they did with their time. It’s not just that they spent too much time working or compulsively checking emails. They regret what they cared about. We manage to never really connect with the present moment and find fulfilment there because we are continually hoping to become happy in the future. And the future never arrives. Even when we think we’re in the present moment, we’re in very subtle ways always looking over our shoulder, anticipating what’s coming next. We’re always solving a problem. And it’s possible to simply drop your problem, if only for a moment and enjoy whatever is true of your life in the present.

92 03:50
The not so late nights Trying our luck on the slot machines The early morning drives out Meant everything to me Please give me back the years we had I can't hold back the tears I've had Don't leave me for the last time I'm here just like the first time Tears in out eyes Laughing too much at the diner scenes And all the times we spent Listening to Anthology Please give me back the years we had I can't hold back the tears I've had Don't leave me for the last time I'm here just like the first time I'm lost I'm lost I'm lost without you Please give me back the years we had I can't hold back the tears I've had Don't leave me for the last time I'm here just like the first time

Midnight Sky 04:32
To the sunsets, to the memories, to the regrets, Los Angeles (Monologue) When I was younger I never knew there a whole world outside of here There's oceans, there's mountains There's everything here And sometimes life just gets hard and you've gotta move on Sometimes things change Sometimes people change We drove the 405 underneath the midnight sky with the windows down, that 80s sound, a look of wonder in your eyes I said “you’ll never leave, you’ll never leave this place behind Please don’t go anywhere, go anywhere tonight” When summer’s gone do we leave our lives behind? Do you love the feeling or the person in your eyes? To the sunsets, to the memories, to the regrets, Los Angeles To the sunsets, to the memories, to the regrets, Los Angeles We took an ocean drive out toward the midnight sky. With the headlights out; the music loud. The summer made us feel alive You said “I’ve gotta leave, I’ve got to leave this place tonight We can go anywhere, go anywhere we like” When summer’s gone do we leave our lives behind? Do you love the feeling or the person in your eyes? To the sunsets, to the memories, to the regrets, Los Angeles To the sunsets, to the memories, to the regrets, Los Angeles I can't stay here This place, I can't die here Looking at same street, the same faces, the same skies Let's run away together, no one will ever know Just you and I

Can we just go back to the start Can we just go back where it fell apart And I was just as lost as everyone else And I noticed you there in the rain In the storm we were running from We were shy kids in a quiet town In a world too small to hold us down Can we just go back to the start Can we just fall back fix these broken hearts And I was just as lost as everyone else And I noticed you there in the rain In the storm we were running from We were shy kids in a quiet town In a world too small to hold us down Monologue You see here kids, you've gotta just go for it Don't think about what came after or what came before You've just gotta bend your knees, take a deep breath and jump And you might think, what if I fall? Well what if you don't? What if you fly? We were shy kids in a quiet town In a world too small to hold us down

Days Go By 04:11
And days go by And now becomes then and the memories fade in time Took a walk in the dark when the light shines bright On the only place that we could go and never lose our minds We got old It got tough There's no fight in me There's a song in our hearts that we gotta sing There's an old road Let's get lost there I can't think of anything better And days go by (and I still miss you) And now becomes then but the memories are always mine Close my eyes in the night Felt the rain fall down It's the only thing that I can do to make me feel alive We got old It got tough There's no fight in me There's a song in our hearts that we gotta sing There's an old road Let's get lost there I can't think of anything better We got old It got tough There's no fight in me There's a song in our hearts that we gotta sing There's an old road Let's get lost there I can't think of anything better And days go by

Golden Haze 03:07
There's cherished memories lost to the skyline Teenage years fade in the glow of the moonlight We start again we break and bend Over again we fall and mend Those rainy days spent out on the coastline A summer haze we thought would last for a lifetime We start again we break and bend Over again we fall and mend Can we seek a place to call our own When we move on from our childhood homes Rusted windows and picture frames A quiet place where my heart can stay Leave the bruises and the photographs The buried toys guns in the seasons passed Can we find a place to call our own Can we seek a place to call our own When we move on from our childhood homes Rusted windows and picture frames A quiet place where my heart can stay Leave the bruises and the photographs The buried toys guns in the seasons passed We start again we break and bend Over again we fall and mend

Summer Eyes 03:22
You found me in a void that day Asking are you ever gonna come my way? And maybe that's what I'll do Because I'm never gonna trust myself Never good enough for someone made like you You're leaving me breathless as I try to dissemble An honest addiction is the gun at my temple Well I dont know where we're going I don't really care at all I could fall in love with those summer eyes And I know you want this I know you do There's a poison in your kiss That leaves me dying here in front of you

Catching the last train to Kyoto Take in the sunsets as the days go We're taking chances in the arcades Living in the best age and you're all I ever wanted They offered it all but I don't want it They offered it all but I don't want it Let's leave it all behind tonight Take to a sky that's drenched in starlight Catching the last train to Kyoto The city sings, the mountains echo We're trading glances as we both sway Dreaming as the years fade You're all I've ever wanted They offered it all but I don't want it They offered it all but I don't want it Let's leave it all behind tonight Take to a sky that's drenched in starlight Let's leave it all behind tonight Take to a sky that's drenched in starlight You're all I've ever wanted You're all I've ever wanted

Last Sundown 04:34
Another drive home Another day done Another night of aimless thinking And I've been smoking instead of talking Thanks to years of endless screening Getting back to the sheets that we never made And now I'm here but you're not there again And through it all And what she said to me We're living a lie Back to the start again Another walk home Another week done Another night of heavy drinking And I've been sleeping on this bedroom floor Caught up but barely keeping Sinking deeper in the hole that we dug back then I'm here but you're not there again And through it all And what she said to me We're living a lie Back to the start again And hung up on what it did to me And for the last time I'll write this off I'll write this off again Hung up on you again You destroyed the best of me And through it all And what she said to me We're living a lie Back to the start again You wore me out And through it all And what she said to me We're living a lie Back to the start again

about

Anemioa is a word that perfectly describes 'Memories', the debut album from Coastal, deeply nostalgic for a time you've never known.

The Leeds-based retrowave band capture the sounds that popularised 80s music and blend them with modern production and songwriting techniques, incorporating heavy aesthetics and themes of love and heartbreak into their evocative lyrics.

Featuring collaborations with Oblique and Cymatica, 'Memories' delivers a range of songs, from the upbeat yet meaningful story of friendship in '92', to the sax-filled lust for love and romance in 'Summer Eyes', that are sure to become favourites for any retrowave lover.
